Modifiers and Qualifiers in Oracle Order Management

Oracle ebusiness  suite>Oracle Supply Chain Management (Oracle SCM)

Question of the Day!!

Module: Oracle Order Management

Question :  What is Modifiers and Qualifiers

Ans:

MODIFIER is used when you want to Modify the Price of the Order Line. (Increase / Decrease).

So, QUALIFIER is used to QUALIFY which MODIFIER should be applied on Order Line.

Pricing Engine will first populate the price from Price List and on top of that, it will look at the qualifiers to see if Order is having any qualifying attribute or not. If yes, then related modifier will be applied.

In some cases, it may happen that Modifiers are not attached to any Qualifier. In this case, irrespective of any qualifying criteria, Modifier will be applicable to all other orders.

Modifiers enable you to setup price adjustments (for example, discounts and surcharges) and freight and special charges that the pricing engine applies to pricing requests. Using modifiers, you can:
  •          Set up modifier lines for a modifier list to define the price adjustment details.

  •          Create eligibility rules for modifiers by assigning modifier list and line level qualifiers

Oracle Advanced Pricing lets you define qualifiers to determine eligibility rules governing who can receive a particular price, discount, promotion, or benefit. Qualifiers and qualifier groups can then be used with Oracle price lists and modifiers.

You can set up qualifier context and attributes to suit your own business needs to determine eligibility for benefits or price. Oracle provides predefined (seeded) qualifier contexts and attributes, and the values for these predefined attributes are sourced from the Oracle Application database (whenever applicable).
