APP-FND-01238: Cannot Set Value For Field - Oracle GL

Entering Code Combination in Journal Line Gets Error APP-01238: Cannot set Value for Field LINES.CODE_COMBINATION_ID (Doc ID 1056783.6)+

APPLIES TO :

Oracle General Ledger - Version 11.5.10.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Form:GLXJEENT.FMB - Enter Journals/Encumbrances

SYMPTOMS :

you are trying to enter a Journal in General Ledger as follows:

1. Navigate to Journals/Enter, GLXJEENT form.
2. Click on [New Journal].
3. When the Journals form appears, after you place your cursor in the Account field and enter an account combination, you receive the following error:
APP-01238: Cannot set value for field LINES.CODE_COMBINATION_ID

Cause: Application Object Library was unable to put a value in the field LINES.CODE_COMBINATION_ID.

Action: Review your error messages with \ Help Error for more information.
This same error can show also with code APP-FND-01238.

Cause :

There is no entered value in the Journal 'Category' and this is a required field to enter before the account code combination.

Solution:

ou must enter a value in the Journal 'Category' field before entering the account code combination.

If you would have first entered a Journal Name, the form would have prompted you for a Category.

You can setup a default value for the Category field by using the profile option 'Journals: Default Category'. This will prevent the problem from occuring again.

Set the profile option 'Journals: Default Category' as follows:

1. Log into Oracle applications as System Administrator
2. Navigate to Profile/System.
3. Check the Application box and type Oracle General Ledger in the field.
4. In the Profiles field, type 'Journals%' and find the profile option 'Journals: Default Category'.
5. Choose a category from the list of values.
6. Save your changes before exiting the form.

The General Ledger Diagnostics - General Setup Test shows an error if this profile is not set up. Find this diagnostic in the referenced document below.
